Putting JavaCard to Work.

In this seminar we will look into the ingredients and recipe for the deployment of multiappliaction cards using JavaCard providing support for a dynamic numbers of card holders, of indepedent application providers and of card issuers. After introducing the divers parties and their roles in a multiapplication card scheme, the orgainization of software in the card, in terminals and in the back-office for a well done card scheme will be discussed with enhancement to the JavaCard application framework for secure initialization and personalization of the card and the applets. An applet loading scenario is served as desert.

Before his current work at SUN Microsystems, Inc., since 1997, as software architect for Java Card, Eduard de Jong was co-founder and Chief Scientist of Integrity Arts Inc. Founding Integrity Arts in 1995 followed earlier work on an Object Oriented card application technolgy at QC Technology BV, in Zaandam, The Netherlands, which he founded in 1992. Eduard's carreer in smart cards started in early 1990 when he joined David' Chaum's new team at DigiCash BV in Amsterdam. Eduard has a degree in Computer Science and in Physiscs from the University of Amsterdam, and is member of the ISO sc17/wg4 standardization commitee which is responsible for the ISO/IEC 7816 series of international standards for smart cards.
