Projects : DCE : Consortia and User Groups

The Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) provides protocol development and standardization for the Internet.

The Object Management Group (OMG) is a vendor and user consortium that promotes object-oriented technology in software development. Its membership is open to software developers, computer system vendors, and software application users. Members include UNIX International and OSF. (Framingham, MA.)

The X/Open SQL Access Group (SAG) is a nonprofit corporation dedicated to developing the technical specification for the interoperability and portability of SQL-based applications across multiple relational database management systems (RDBMS) and hardware platforms. Open to systems and software vendors and users. X/Open is a member. (San Jose, CA)

The Open Software Foundation (OSF) is an international foundation of vendors, users, and independent software vendors (ISVs) that makes available open systems technology based on industry standards. Open to hardware vendors, software vendors, end users, ISVs, and research and university organizations. Membership is about 400 worldwide. (11 Cambridge Center, Cambridge, MA)

UniForum is a nonprofit trade association dedicated to the promotion of open systems.

X/Open is an international nonprofit company whose goal is to establish a portable software environment based on formal or de facto standards. Open to suppliers, major users, and software developers. Members include OSF and UNIX International. (Reading, England with offices in US)

Decorum is a multitrack annual trade conference sponsored by Transarc. Each track offers information about case studies by leading users, product updates, technical tips, and practical advice.
