How To Get To CITI

Maps

If you are unfamiliar with Ann Arbor, see the Google Map.

From Downtown

argus.sign.72

Find the corner of Main St. and William St., at the south end of the Main St. shopping area, then head west (down the hill, toward the train tracks, and away from campus).

Continue for four blocks: down the hill, across the tracks, and past the burgeoning condo construction on the right, to Third St. The Argus I Building is the 100-year old four-story converted factory at the corner of Third and William.

There is covered bicycle parking by the building entrance that faces Third St.

From the Train Station

CITI is about about a mile from the train station. If you prefer to take a taxi, there is usually one waiting outside the station. Otherwise, follow Depot St. west towards Casey's Tavern, about 100 yds away, and turn left on Fifth Ave. Follow Fifth Ave. for about eight blocks to William St., then follow the From Downtown directions.

From the Bus Station

There are two bus stations.

From the city bus station on Fourth Ave., known as the Blake Transit Center, go one block west to Main St. and follow the From Downtown directions.

Don't confuse Fourth Ave., located downtown, with Fourth St., on Ann Arbor's Old West Side, or you will find yourself standing in front of a funeral home scratching your head.

From the Greyhound Bus station, go right (west) on Huron for a quarter mile to Third St., turn left on Third St., go a quarter mile to William St.

From Detroit Metro Airport

There is no reliable bus or train service from the airport. If you don't have a car, you can take a shuttle, taxi or sedan. The fare ranges from $40 to $65 (with tip). Craigslist rideshare is another option.

If you do have a car, follow I-94 westbound (toward Chicago), possibly via Eureka Road and I-275 North. Then Driving Directions (from the east) below.

By Car

Driving Directions

From the north: Main St., right on William St., four blocks to Third St.

From the south via US-23 (or east via Washtenaw): Washtenaw (turns into Huron), left on Third, three blocks to William.

From the east via I-94 (or south via State): State St., left on Packard, right on Main, left on William, four blocks to Third.

From the west: Jackson Road (turns into Huron), right on Seventh, left on Liberty, right on Fourth, one block to William.

Parking

Ann Arbor is infamous for its lack of parking, and CITI is no exception. We will supply one-day parking permits on request, but we ask that attendees reimburse the $6.00 cost at the time of use. Also, it is necessary to request permits at least two weeks in advance of the meeting, as we must make arrangements to pick up permits for all events at CITI that will require them. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding.

On-street parking is available. Look for signs that indicate which day is legal for day-long parking on that day. The logic is as follows:

  • If the sign indicates restricted parking on M W F, all-day parking is permitted on Tuesday and Thursday.
  • If the sign indicates restricted parking on T TH, all-day parking is permitted on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

If you are staying one hour or less you can park on either side.

Hotels

There are no good hotels in the neighborhood but the Burnt Toast Inn is just half a block away.

The Campus Inn and the Bell Tower are upscale hotels within walking distance, i.e., under a mile. The Inn at the Michigan League is also an option.

The Embassy Hotel about a half mile from CITI is not an Embassy Suites hotel. Probably you don't want to stay there.

Many of the hotels on the outskirts of town are reasonably priced; all have ample parking.
